Welcome back, we’re on the road again, traveling God’s highway of life, fueled by His alphabet of Christianity. Today’s letter is P for PATHS.
As the old joke says, “Yeah, I’m lost, but I’m making good time.” Not knowing how to get where we want to go makes us a little nutty.Spiritual confusion, lostness and aimlessness are problems God can solve! David, in his travels, said, “He guides me in paths of righteousness…show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” (Psalm 23:5; 25:4,5)
Heads us – notice David said, TEACH me your paths. The #1 quality needed? A teachable spirit – willing to ask directions! Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
Now here’s the topper! David asked God to lead him in paths of righteousness. What is the value of righteousness? What are its powers, advantages, benefits and blessings? I encourage you to read daily the amazing powers of righteousness exploding from chapters 10 and 11 of Proverbs in the Old Testament. Highlight “righteous” every time you read it – you’ll be flabbergasted. This is your pathway!
I encourage you to seek God’s wisdom from all these life-giving Scriptures above. Read them, roll them around in your heart. Embrace them. Make them your own. Ask God to teach you. Be willing to humble yourself. Exercise every ounce of faith you have in Him. Put your feet on God’s pathway and keep walking into eternity. You will not be disappointed. Commit yourself to God, seal it with prayer in Jesus’ name and start your daily walk in the power of the Spirit.
Never forget – “…you are my God and my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”
